Treatments

Complementary Therapies

Complementary therapies can be used alone or alongside medical treatments for conditions such as pain-relief, hormonal imbalances, tired & aching muscles, PMS, arthritis, sleep disorders, digestive disorders, cancer, stress and stress-related conditions. They also have a therapeutic effect on the nervous system, promoting a feeling of well - being and helps the body dispose of toxins.

Reflexology

Reflexology is an ancient form of complementary medicine involving massaging the reflex points on and around the feet. This treatment can help to re-balance the body's hormonal and energy systems and to maintain the body's natural equilibrium. Research* has shown that other than the conditions mentioned above reflexology may also help relieve the symptoms of  lymphoedema,  fibromyalgia, and rheumatoid arthritis. Reflexology may also help clients living with the symptoms of cancer and non-medical infertility issues .

Massage

Massage therapy has also been used for thousands of years and has extensive benefits for everyone such as relief of back pain, headaches and migraine; reduction of shoulder and neck tension; improvement in the symptoms of conditions such as arthritis, IBS, stress, fatigue and muscle cramps.  I am also trained in Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD), a gentle, flowing, rhythmic massage that can be applied to a wide range of symptoms to great effect and promotes the optimal functioning of the lymphatic vessels that lead to the circulatory system. MLD can be effective in the treatment of oedema, skin disorders, headache, sinus congestion, aches and sprains, stress, digestive disorders, and before/after surgery to remove tissue congestion and minimise scar formation, and can boost the immune system.

For an even more luxurious, deeper, treatment hot stones can be used in either a Reflexology or Massage treatment (excluding MLD)

Thai Foot Massage

An ancient traditional Thai treatment applying a combination of techniques including massage, stimulation to reflex points, stretching, and compression applied to lower legs and feet to remove blockages and improve energy flow around the body, leaving you refreshed and relaxed.

Reiki

“Reiki” (ray-key) is Japanese for ‘universal life energy, and is also a word used to describe a system of natural healing, This tradition was founded by Dr Mikao Usui in the early 20th century and evolved as a result of his research, experience and dedication.

We live in a world of energy that nourishes and maintains all living things. When this energy flows uninterrupted there is balance and harmony within and around us, and we experience a sense of well being. There are many variations of Reiki, but in essence Reiki treatments can help the body emotionally or spiritually.  Reiki treatment is a process that anyone can enjoy in the normal course of their life.

Reiki can be used alongside other conventional or complementary treatment and often helps to provide emotional support during recovery.
